ID: G5 Title: Temple of APOLLO EPICURO, Bassai, Greece.  
Period of construction: 420-40 b.c.

Chronology of intervention:
-1902: Archaeological search; K. Kourouniotis, with the assistance of K. Romaios and P. Kavvadias;
-1959- 1970 and 1975- 1979: Archaeological and systematic search of the area.
Description of the interventions:
-1812:
The archaeological excavation of the area begins.
-1814:
The Frieze ionic and the 22 carved plates were acquired for order of the future King of England George IV and transferred in the British Museum.
Problems of degradation of the temple:
The main problems are relative to the action of the water, to de-freeze and the temperature variations.
-1902:
Archaeological search and first restoration of temple conducted by the archaeological society of Athens.
-1959-1970:
Archaeological search in the area; second restoration of the temple because of the critical state in which the temple is found.
-1975-1979:
-The archaeological and systematic search of the area proceed under the direction of N. Gialouris;
Recently:
The searches have been completed, by the committee of the temple of Apollo Epicureo, for the restoration of the temple.
Today:
The conservation jobs go ahead under the direction of the committee of the temple of Apollo Epicureo that has its base at Athens.
